    In regards to the activation of Post Graduate programme a team of experts from Manipur University inspected Mount Everest College on 25th June, 2022. The Team of experts comprise of

    3. Prof. Irom Gambhir Singh, Department of English & Cultural Studies, MU

    The Team inspected the infrastructure facilities, Library, Administration and Teaching faculties of the college to assess the feasibility of Post-Graduate activation for the departments of

    1. Political Science
    2. Sociology
    3. History
    4. English

    An interactive session with the teaching faculties, concerned authorities of the college and the team of experts was also held.

    The team of experts were impressed with the overall works and developments of the College for the activation of Post Graduate programme and gave Green light for the further work. They also gave recommendations and feedbacks to the concerned authorities of the college for acceleration and enhancement of activating Post Graduate Programme in the College.

    Mount Everest College organized One Day Pledge Program on ‘SAY NO TO DRUGS’

    Anti-Ragging Committee Cum Anti-Narcotic Cell of Mount Everest College (MEC) had constituted to ensure a drug- free campus within and outside the campus.  Anti-Ragging Committee Cum Anti-Narcotic Cell organised One Day Pledge Programme on ‘SAY NO TO DRUGS’ on August 12th,2022 under the direction of  Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India, through Social Welfare Department, Govt. of Manipur.
    The Programme is aimed to make our students aware of the dangers involved in drug abuse and to inform about the harmful effects of new psychoactive drugs. 29 faculties and staff and 175 students from 3rd and 5th semesters of B.A, B. Com and B.Sc. participated the programme.
    The program started with a mass spoken prayer- The Lord’s Prayer, followed by School Anthem. Mr. Sp. Simeon, Chaplain of Mount Everest College delivered a short speech and he emphasized the harmful effects and the risks associated with using alcohol and other drugs. He stressed the importance of awareness campaigns about drug abuse among students. Just before the end of the programme, together with the faculties present on the day, Students took a pledge under The Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan to make not only our community, family, friends but ourselves drug free. The programme concludes with prayer, blessed upon by the chaplain of College to be able to overcome and live free from drugs.

    Students of Mount Everest College participated in District Level Competition on essay writing , extempore speech, spot painting and badminton organized by Hill College Tadubi, Manipur under the direction of Directorate (U) Govt. Of Manipur in connection with Patriot’s day (3rd August) and Independence Day (15th August) 2022.

    Under the guidance and instruction of the teachers and the institution, the students from Mount Everest College,Senapati participated in the said Competition and secured various winning positions in each competition.

    A one day Vidya Bharati Uchcha Shisha Sansthan Zonal Workers’ Training Camp, North East Zone was held on 24th July 2022 at National Institute of Rural Development and Panchayatiraj (NIRDPR), Jawahar Nagar, Khanapara, Guwahati, Assam. It was hosted by Dr. Kiran Hajarika, Member of UGC and principal of Tengakhat College. The said program was attended by the Zonal Workers’ of North East Zone from the different state of North East India. The delegates from Manipur state, includes imminent professors and academician namely, Prof. N. Rajmohan Singh, V.C of Dhanamanjuri University; Prof. Irom Gambhir Singh; Dr. Ibohal Meitei; Dr. L. Bhishwanath Sharma; O. Chaoba Devi, Principal Thoubal college; Solomon and Moses from South East Manipur College; Niomchung Jatak Chiru and Donkaolung Malangmei from Mount Everest College.

    In the introductory session, Dr. Kiran Hajarika gave a welcome note to all the delegates, while Dr. Kailash Sharma expressed in his speech the need for emphasizing on Indian knowledge and to revive the traditional knowledge and practices of India, and Prof. N. Rajmuhon Singh highlighted the aims and visions of NEP 2020. In order to make India a global knowledge power house, he mentioned that we need proper implementation of NEP 2020 and moreover incorporation of ITCT in all strata of learning, which is not only the need of the hour, but also will catalyze in enhancing the learning of students. He also commented on the various loopholes of academic related activities and the necessity to overcome the problems, be it in teacher recruitment or the inadequate infrastructure including library etc.

    The program consisted of three sessions; the Session-I speaker was Dr. Koilash Sharma. In the Session-II, the speaker Dr. T. N Ragunanda expressed that the higher education institutions worker or knowledge worker community need to improve their performance and all  the institutions need to generate and develop nationalistic spirit and instill nationalistic ethos to the young learners across the country. He also mentioned some of the objectives of VBUSS: is to create more knowledge worker, to establish institution base on national spirit and to become leader in global knowledge forum. With regards to language aspect, he expressed that we need to embrace and celebrate the diversity of languages and further emphasis that diversity of language should be the factor for the integration of India.  In the Session-3, Dr. Bishwanath Sharma spoke on the Significant of Indian Philosophy and Culture with reference to NEP 2020. Prof. Irom Gambhir Singh had delivered on the topic, Development of Indian Language. He also highlighted the important roles of local language in disseminating knowledge to the students. Classroom is the best laboratory for the teacher, where the student can evaluate the performance of the teacher. Teachers need to perform their duty sincerely and should not only ensure their salary but rather work with ethics. Dr. Ibohal Meitei had delivered his speech on Skills Development. Presently India is aiming to become a global education hub and to train and equip students with vocational training. As of now, only 10% of Indian graduate are employable. We need skills oriented individual to be well fitted in the industrial economy. The knowledge ones acquired may not be suited to be employed in any industry. So the skill oriented enhancement courses in the NEP 2020 will empower the learners and make them well equip with skill at every exist point. He further mentioned the need to incorporate the locally available material and knowledge in the mainstream syllabus for generating employable option after their completion of study. Skill oriented course will greatly help in solving the unemployment problem in India, and will create an economically vibrant society, knowledge superpower and ability for entrepreneurship. He ends with an allegory of Lion and Deer, two different animals in jungle, where, lion needs to run faster than the slowest deer while, deer needs to run faster than the fastest lion in order to survive and sustain their life. The world is changing fast with great pace and when the sun rises we too need to be ready. The program ended with a valedictory session, in which the managing committee of VDUSS for each state was declared.

    Mount Everest College, Senapati Manipur joined with the rest of the world in observing World Youth Skills Day, 2022 under the theme “Learning and Skills for life, work, and sustainable development” on 15th July, 2022 in College Smart Hall No. 2, at 12:15 pm onwards. The Programme was Organized by The Skills Enhancement Committee, Mount Everest College. The Resource Persons for the Programme was Mr. Donkaolung Malangmei, Asst. Professor, Department of English, MEC, on the topic ‘Communication Skills’ and Miss. Mary Paveine, Asst. Professor, Department of Home Science, MEC, on the topic ‘Art of Cooking’. The Programme was attended by Vice-Principal, Teachers, Staff, and Students.

    Mount Everest College, Senapati Manipur conducted a Mass Tree Plantation Programme on 8th July, 2022, in and around the College Campus. The programme was conducted under the directive of the Office of the Principal Chief Conservation of Forests & HoFF, Government of Manipur through Directorate of University and Higher Education Government of Manipur order dated 27th June, 2022 to all the students and teachers of the Government and Government Aided College of Manipur. A total of 509 Sapling were provided by the Senapati District Forest Department out of target 1000 Sapling to be planted in and around College Campus by the concern authority.

    Further, the college also pledge to protect and look after the saplings that were planted for the next three years.             The Mass Tree plantation Programme was participated by 85 Members of Teachers and students led by Principal and Vice principal, College NSS Unit-1 led by the Programme Officer.

    Executing the directive of University Grants Commission, dated 1st July, 2022, the Mount Everest College, Senapati Manipur, had arranged and participated in the inaugural event of 3 Day Education Summit, Akhil Bharatiya Shiksha Samagam, which was telecast live from Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh on 7th July, 2022 from 2:30 pm onwards through YouTube Channel. We are pleased to report that hundreds of students, teachers and staff of the Institution have participated in the above mentioned event . The Institution is indebted to the organiser for enabling our College fraternity to be enlightened through the inaugural Address of our Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi Ji and various speeches of Educational experts on the diverse perspective of the NEP 2020 and its role in transforming higher education.
