Inter Departmental Day 2023
The Mount Everest College Inter-Departmental Day programme was organized under the theme “Department Olympics in Creativity” at the college Multipurpose Hall on 21st April, 2023 at 10 am. President of the College Dr. V. Alexander Pao, Mount Everest vice Principal Gonmai Maithuanlungpou, Assistant Professors and students of all the department attended the programme.
The programme was organised by Co-curricular committee of Mt. Everest College and is being participated by 14 Departments. The programme was organized in such a way that different Departments of Different discipline sheared a common platform.
The programme begins at 10:05 am by singing College Anthem followed by Invocation prayer by S.P. Simeon, Chaplain, MEC.
The sequence of the Departmental Events was highlight by the two moderators 1. Mr. Jaojian Riamei, Asst. Prof. Dept. of History and 2. Mr. Lanchenba, Asst. Professor, Dept. of Political Science, MEC.
Different events were performed according to the sequence.
- Physics Department on the Theme “Physics class: Physics is simple but physicists are not”
- Commerce Department on the Theme: “Unemployment”
- English Department on the Theme: “Staging Dante’s Inferno”.
- Zoology Department on the Theme: “Human Evolution, Imbalance and ill Effects of Ecosystem”.
- Mathematics Department on the theme: “Logical-Mathematical Intelligence”.
- Anthropology Department on the theme: “Culture is Dynamic”.
- Botany Department on the theme: “Conserving trees for a better tomorrow”.
- Computer Science Department on the theme: “Cybercrime and security”.
- Home Science Department on the theme: “Spring Flower Décor”.
- Political Science Department on the theme: “As you like it”.
- Education Department on the theme: “Save Water, save life”.
- History Department on the theme: “Indian Struggle for Independence”.
- Chemistry Department on the theme: “Reactions of Chemistry”.
- Sociology Department on the theme: “Sociological Experiment”.
PRIZE DISTRIBUTION

- Most Thematic goes to Zoology Department
- Most Creativity goes to Education Department
- Most Thrilling goes to Commerce Department
- Most Realistic goes to Botany Department
- Most Inspirational goes to Physics Department.
After the vote of thanks from Mr. K.R. Alen Chiru, Asst. Prof., Dept. of Pol. Sc., The programme was ended with a word of prayer from Mr. Jenkins Kongkongho, Students Facilitator, MEC.

National Workshop on NAAC Assessment and Accreditation
REPORT ON ONE DAY NATIONAL LEVEL WORKSHOP ON NAAC ASSESSMENT AND ACCREDITATION
A one day National Level Workshop on NAAC Assessment and Accreditation was organised by Directorate of University and Higher Education, Government of Manipur at Kamakhya Pemton College, Hiyangthang, Imphal west held on 18th April, 2023 from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm which was sponsored by Rastriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA), Manipur.
The underlisted 6 faculty members and 1 Librarian of the college participated the Workshop.

After registration of the teachers and invitees, the Workshop began with felicitation of the dignitaries and inauguration of the programme.
The Technical session- I was presided over by Dr. Priya Narayanan, Assistant Advisor, NAAC Bengaluru as a Resource person. The Resource person elaborates the detail of the NAAC process along with the minute understanding of seven criteria in assessment and accreditation.
In technical session 2 & 3, all the 19 participated colleges reported their current status of NAAC assessment and the challenges face by the respective institution. After patient hearing, the Resource Person complemented the exhaustive and extensive work the College had performed in such challenging environment.
The workshop concluded with closing remarks by the Resource Person followed by the distribution of the Participation Certificate.

Adventure Club organized trekking expedition
Mount Everest College Adventure Club under the motto “Adventure for Health and Knowledge” organized one day trekking expedition along Eastern Mountain of its college on 14th April, 2023. 24 students and 6 faculty were participated in the said expedition.
The main aim is to give a student to gain a new appreciation for the great outdoor, to step out from their comfort zone, to get some exercise, to come together with the friends and community and to learn a new life skills.

Charity Day & Sports Week Prize Distribution 2023
Mount Everest College, Charity Day was organized under the theme “Give and Be Blessed” by Commerce Department in collaboration with Chapel Committee on 13th April, 2023 at 9:30AM Auditorium Hall of Mount Everest College. The main aims of the programme is to inculcate the art of Giving and also educate youth that “Cheerful givers are overjoyed at the thought of helping other and they expect nothing in return no prize or special feeling inside. They give because they truly want to give to others so as God will richly blessed when we gives from our heart. The programme also shows how God demonstrates His love for us, for God is the giver of every good and perfect gift.
As a part of the programme, Faculty and Students participated and contributed a small amount of money according to their willingness. The collected sum of amount will go to charity to those deserving categories of poor and needy communities and families, which is further to be decided by the organizing committee.
Further, the prize /medal ceremony of Sports Week 2023 was taken up by the Sports Committee, MEC.

ONLINE GOOGLE MEET
In relation to Current status of NAAC accreditation of Government and Aided College, Government of Manipur, an online google meet meeting was held and chair by Dr. Rangitabali Waikhom, Directorate of University and Higher Education, GoM on 10th April, 2023, 11:30 am at smart hall, MEC. In this regard 30 Faculty including Governing Body Members of Mount Everest College were participated in the said Meeting. Mr. Niomchung Jatak Chiru, IQAC Coordinator, MEC presented the Current Status of Assessment of Mount Everest College.

Mount Everest College Sports Week, 2023
Mount Everest College Sports Week , 2023 organized by Sports Committee, MEC from 3rd April – 6th April, 2023 at Poonam Ground premise of Mount Everest College. Foodball (Both Boys & Girls), Volleyball (G&G), Shotput, Longjump, highjump, ethletics etc were played during the sports weeks.

‘WORLD WATER DAY’ OBSERVED
Under the aegis of Mount Everest College NSS Unit-1, the college recently commemorated World Water Day on 22nd March, 2023, centered around the theme of “Accelerating Change,” at the College Smart Hall. The event was attended by a total of 50 NSS volunteers and teachers.
In accordance with the day’s commemoration, an enlightening Awareness Programme was held, featuring Ms. Vashti Kho, Assistant Professor in the Department of Anthropology, as the Resource Person. During her introductory address, Ms. Kho emphasized the pressing need for decisive action to safeguard the planet from the looming water crisis. According to the United Nations, “Billions of people, as well as schools, businesses, healthcare centers, farms, and factories, lack access to safe water and toilets. Therefore, there is a critical need to accelerate change and move beyond the conventional approach.”
Ms. Kho further expounded on three crucial points: 1) Global water scarcity issues and crises; 2) National water scarcity issues and crises; and 3) Local water scarcity issues and crises. She exhorted the NSS volunteers to play their part as responsible citizens and spread awareness about the water crisis while also taking practical steps to conserve water resources, starting from their families, neighborhoods, society, and country, ultimately contributing to the greater good of the world.

WORLD WATER DAY OBSERVED
With the initiative of Mount Everest College NSS Unit-1, the college observed World Water Day on 22nd March, 2023 under the theme “Accelerating Change” at College Smart Hall. 50 NSS Volunteer and Teachers participated the programme.
In relation to the day, an Awareness Programme was held with Ms. Vashti Kho, Asst. Prof., Department of Anthropology attended as a Recourse Person. On her introductory remark, she said “The theme emphasises the requirement for stern action to protect the world from the water crisis. Addressing the issue, according to UN, “Billions of people and countless schools, businesses, healthcare centres, farms and factories don’t have the safe water and toilets they need. There is an urgent need to accelerate change – to go beyond business as usual.”
She also deliberates on Three important points- 1. Water problem/Crisis at the Global level 2. Water crisis at the National Level and 3. Water crisis at the Local Level. She maintained while encourage the NSS Volunteer to spread awareness and put into practice as a responsible citizen starting from their family, own locality, society, Nation and the world about the Water crisis and to conserved the Water resources.
