  • 7 DAYS FACULTY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME (FDP)

7 DAYS FACULTY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME (FDP)

A 7-days Faculty Development Programme on “Moodle – LMS (Learning Management System)” was organised by Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of the college, Sponsored by Directorate of University & Higher Education, Government of Manipur from 24th August – 30th August, 2023 through Online and Offline mode. A total number of 49 faculty members of the college participated in the FDP. the objective of the programme, is to enhance the understanding of teachers, students, teacher educators, and various stakeholders on the Learning Management System and availability of the resources, in order to enrich the classroom experiences. For effective implementation of NEP 2020 the College takes a small step to realise the goal of NEP 2020 which has clearly stated in clause 21.10, of the requirement of technology to be leveraged to strengthen and develop high-quality online courses. Quality technology-based options for learning such as apps, online courses/ modules, satellite-based TV channels, online books, and ICT-equipped libraries and adult education centres, etc., will be developed, through government and philanthropic initiatives as well as through crowd-sourcing and competitions. In many cases, quality adult education could thereby be conducted in an online or blended mode. To foster the understanding of the context, the Learning Management System (LMS) plays a crucial role, primarily focusing on Moodle, a free and open-source learning management system he added.

Dr. Samson S Chiru Singh, Principal of the college in his Inaugural session, Learning Management System (LMS) supports e-learning by bridging the gap between teachers and learners through collaborative, non-linear, and vibrant knowledge collections. Whether it is online learning or face-to-face teaching, LMS has features for everyone. In today’s era, LMS has become an integral teaching tool and is no more a luxury but a necessity. The system helps keep the learning going even during adverse situations. By understanding what a learning management system is, you can realize the impact it creates.

The FDP also benefitted the teachers for adaptive and customised learning by using an open-source software like Moodle. Through the programme, the faculty members also acquired  knowledge of some of the basics of Moodle such as file upload, assignments, quizzes, notifications, plugins, attendance, reminders, etc.

Gonmei Meithaunlungpao, vice principal in his vote of thanks acknowledge Dr. Rangitabali Waikhom, Director, Directorate of University and Higher Education, Government of Manipur, for sponsoring the Programme,  Dr. Nongmaithem Ajith Singh, OSD, Directorate of University & Higher Education, Govt. of Manipur , IT-Coordinator MEC, MOODLE Coordinator MEC and IQAC Coordinator MEC who render their expertise as a Resource  Persons for the programme .
