    ONE DAY TEACHERS ORIENTATION PROGRAMME CUM DEPARTMENTAL MEETING

    One Day Teachers Orientation Programme on Admission and Examination Regulation for the Four- year Under Graduate, 2022 cum Departmental Meeting was held on 29th October, 2022 in Mount Everest College auditorium. It was organized by IQAC, Mount Everest College.

    The programme was held to enlighten the teachers and staff of MEC on the admission process and examination regulation under NEP 2020 and clarify any doubts from each department regarding this.

    The programme was moderated by Dr. Roshan Shagolshem, Academic Dean, MEC. Mr. Gonmei Meithuanlungpou, Acting Principal, MEC deliberated to the staff and teachers present on the logistics, particulars and the mechanisms of NEP 2020 for each streams as given under the draft issued by the Manipur University in this regard.

    It was followed by discussion and queries from the teachers of each department to clarify any doubts. The concerns and queries raised by the teachers were entertained and answered by the Acting Principal, Academic Dean and IQAC Co-ordinator of MEC.

    The programme come to an end after vote of thanks delivered by Niomchung Jatak Chiru, IQAC Co-ordinator, MEC and closing prayer from S.P. Simeon, Chaplain, MEC.

    The institute is very happy on his success and wish him a bright future.

    THE 23RD ANNUAL LITERARY MEET 2022

    THE 23RD ANNUAL LITERARY MEET OF MOUNT EVEREST COLLEGE was organized by Co-curricular Committee, MEC on 22nd and 25th October, 2022 under the theme “Igniting Talents”. It was attended by all the students and teachers of the college. The annual literary meet was held with the objective of exploring new talents amongst the students and encouraging them to pursue their talents and dreams. Above this, it was also aimed to bring about the overall personality development of the students.

    The first day of the annual literary meet was held on 22nd October in college campus. Various competitions on painting, essay writing, videography and photography were conducted on this day.

    The second day of the annual literary meet was held on 25th October in college auditorium hall. It began with the singing of College anthem. After which, various competitions on extempore speech, solo singing and dance, debate, quiz and choreography took place one after the other. Many students participated in all the competitions with excellence.

    After all the competitions was over the co-curricular committee declared the results and distributed the prizes. The results of all the competitions are attached herewith.

    The annual literary meet was a success with co-operation from the college authority, students and teachers. It came to an end with a prayer from Mr. Shekho, Asst. Prof, Dept. of Economics.

    ONE DAY AWARENESS PROGRAMME ON “CYBER SECURITY AND EMERGING TECHNOLOGY” AT MEC

    ONE DAY AWARENESS PROGRAMME ON “CYBER SECURITY AND EMERGING TECHNOLOGY” was organized in Mt. Everest College auditorium hall on 19th Oct, 2022. It was organized by the NIELIT Extension, Senapati Centre in collaboration with Mt. Everest College. It was attended by Meithuanlungpao Gonmei, Acting Principal of MEC, Roshan Shagolsem, Academic dean of MEC, Teachers and students of MEC and various officials and members of NIELIT. Karuna Wangkhem and Monita Wahengbam, scientist ‘C’ from NIELIT graced the event as resource persons.

    The objective of the programme was to update the knowledge of the students on basic modern cyber technology that are commonly used and create awareness on the risk and precautionary measures of using such technologies.

    The programme started with the singing of College anthem followed by introductory speech from Roshal Shagolsem, Academic Dean of MEC.

    Resource person Karuna Wangkhem elaborated on the definition of cyber Security and enlightened the students on the basic understanding of the cyber technologies that are used on a daily basis from our gadgets. As such, she stressed on the threats and risks of such technologies and the common mistakes we make making us vulnerable from cyber-attacks.

    Monita Wahengbam continued to highlight the Security measures we need to take as preventive measures from various cyber-attacks. She introduced the understanding of good cyber hygiene to the students and spoke on various tips for security.

    The awareness raised in the minds of the students from this programme was manifested during the questions and answer hour. Many students raised their concerns and doubts regarding cyber security and the risk they are exposed from the daily usage of their gadgets.

    The programme was a grand success in creating a healthier cyber environment and equipping the students with knowledge to deal with the risk of cyber-attacks we are exposed to everyday.

    The programme ended with words of gratitude from M. Gonmei Acting Principal of MEC and closing prayer by S.P. Simeon, Chaplain of MEC.

    Mount Everest College Senapati conducts XXIIIrd   Fresher’s Social

    The Mount Everest College, Senapati Manipur conducted its XXIIIrd Fresher’s Social under the Theme: “The Beginning of a New Phase”, on the 17th of September 2022 at the college auditorium as part of the academic activity. The function was graced by Prof. S. Jibonkumar Singh, Director, College Development Council & HOD, Department of Anthropology, Manipur University as the chief guest.

    Mr. Dziipazho of B.Com., V-Sem and Ms. Jennifer Sasah of B.A. V-Sem co-hosted the programme. The programme was conducted under two sessions. The first session started with a welcome song from Commerce Department followed by a prayer of grace from Mr. S.P. Simeon, Chaplain, MEC, which was followed by lighting of the lamp by the Chief Guest where he was accompanied by VP and President.

    Shri. Gonmei Meithuanlungpao Acting Principal, MEC delivered a short welcome note where he introduced the chief guest and stated that God has answered their prayer and blessed the college with students who are different from everything and unique from each other in all aspects to be part of the college. The speech was followed by a special song from Ms. Rojohne Vemai, B.Sc. III-Sem.

    Thereafter, Round 1 for self-introduction of the freshers was done where more than 200 freshmen of different capacities and talents introduced themselves. The self-introduction was followed by Kuki Cultural Dance Troupe which was followed by speech from the chief guest. Speaking as the chief guest, Prof. Jibonkumar Singh stated that Mount Everest is known as the tallest and highest peak in the world. Similarly, the professor asks the students to be the tallest and highest with respect to their status, occupation and ambition. Every parent likes their children to be taller than themselves or be more prosperous, more respectful and give more contributions to the society. Likewise every teacher too wants their students to be higher than themselves.

    He also further stated that Mount Everest College is one of the best colleges in Manipur which is why the University has granted permission to open M.A. courses in History, Political Science, English and Sociology with an intake capacity of 35 seats in each department. The professor is also sure that the product of the college would shine because; all the faculty members of the college are very competent and qualified. Advising the young learners, the professor stated that other than professional courses that are not available in the state, it’s for the best that they stay and complete their studies in Manipur as the educational institutions in the state are equally good with that of the outside.

    After the speech, Ms. Savane Vemai, B.A. V-Sem delivered a short speech on behalf of the old timer which was followed by a dance form the Department of Commerce III-Semester. B.Sc. V-Sem performed a Bollywood Dance which was followed by Round-2 i.e, Talent show. After the talent show, Speech on behalf of the fresher’s was delivered by Mr. Mark Thoitak, B.A. I-Sem. The second round ended with Couple Show from B.A. III-Sem.

    The final Round, i.e., Round-3 began after light refreshment where the finalists were asked several questions by the panellist: Mr. Jangminthang, Asst. Professor, Dept. of Sociology, MEC, Mrs. Tamar Gonmei, Asst. Professor, Dept. of Pol. Sc., MEC, Mr. Jenkins Kongkongho Students’ facilitator, MEC and Ms. Yenai Veonah, Asst. Professor, Dept. of Sociology, MEC. The question round was followed by a special dance from B.A. V-Sem and a special no. from Namrata Rai of Bcom. III- Sem.

    Preity Rakhangmi from English Department bagged the Miss Fresher title, 2022, Mr. Thaohriilou Seth of Physics Department bagged Mr. Fresher title 2022 while Tenthuibou Tinamai of Physics Department bagged the most Talented, Jianreilung Malangmeih of Botany department bagged Mr. Personality, Shangpiliu Tingnamai of Commerce Department bagged Miss Beautiful Smile and Tedovala Paoh of Botany Department bagged the best costume.

    The programme was concluded with a vote of thanks from Mrs. Kokko Ringkangmai Asst. Prof. Department of English, MEC and a benediction from Mr. Jenkins Kongkongho, Students Facilitator, MEC.

    Mount Everest College Women’s Cell under AMYAA NGO in collaboration with PROJECT BAALA organized One Day Awareness Programme on MENSTRUAL HYGIENE Cum Distribution of Free BAALA REUSABLE SANITARY PADS on 20th September, 2022 in the College Auditorium Hall at 11:00 am.

    The programme was attended by Mr. R.L. Paul Chawang, President, AMYAA NGO, Ms. Marina Aweliu, Facilitator AMYAA as a resource person and College Faculties. The Female Students of First, Third and Fifth Semester were also attended the programme and avail the gift of Free BAALA reusable sanitary pads.

    The Programme was moderated by Ms. M. Nimrila, Asst. Prof., Department of Zoology, MEC. Welcome and Introduction was led by Ms. K. Kateni, Asst. Prof., Dept. of Botany, MEC where she introduce the President AMYAA NGO Mr. R.K. Paul Chawang and Resource Person Ms. Marina Aweliu, Facilitator AMYAA. Followed by Speech From R.K. Paul Chawang, President, AMYAA NGO.

    In his speech He stated that the student of today must not study just to secure good marks and obtain passed certificates, while that is important, students must go beyond textbook learning to relate their learning with real situations of their lives and environment. The present prevailing situation of overall development in the state of Manipur is disheartening. Students have to complete their studies with much hardships and hard works to buy jobs. Student today are finding hard to find role models in their societies be it any in the field of any professions. Youth of today must not live under psychological fear to raise their voices against deprivations of their basis rights such as right to education, health and clean drinking water facilities in their respective villages. We must stand against corruption and as responsible youth fight against corrupt practices in all spheres. A young 11 years old environmental activist Ms.Licypriya Kangujam from Manipur who stood firm to combat climate change stands as a true example of how youth can fight for a good cause in their societies. As students are empowered to empower others to exercise the true freedom of defending our fundamental rights for meaning existence as loyal citizens of our country and as responsible Youth leaders of our societies, he concluded.

    Ms. Marina Aweliu, Facilitator AMYAA speaking as a Resource person gives an awareness on wide range about Menstrual Hygiene. What is Menstruation?  How to relieve pain during Menstruation? What are the hygiene practices that we should inculcate in our habit during menstruation? When to visit the Doctor? and some environmental implications.

    After which Question Hours were open, where, as many student asked their doubt. Followed by the distribution of Free BALA reusable sanitary pads. The programme was ended with a vote of thanks from Ms. Lily Heipoivile, Asst. Prof., Dept. of Physics, MEC.

    Mount Everest College in collaboration with the class teachers of each class and IQAC conducted election to elect representatives from each class on 6th September, 2022. As such, two students from each class were elected as Captain and Asst. Captain. The representatives comprise of one male and female student from each class for tenure of one year. This was conducted in accordance with the Institution’s objective to facilitate student’s representative and engagement in various administrative, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.

    MEC conducted Anti-Ragging Awareness Programme

    ANTI-RAGGING CAMPAIGN

    A ‘One Day Anti-Ragging Awareness Programme’ was conducted on  02- 09-2022 at Mount Everest College for the students. The programme was organized by the Anti-Ragging Committee to give awareness and prevent the menace of ragging and maintain healthy interpersonal relations among students in the college. The Programme started at 09:30 a.m. in college Campus with the welcome address by Sanjenbam Vikram,Asst. Prof., Department of Computer Science and introduced the resource person to the gathering.

    Ragging is strictly forbidden in and outside the college campus. For this Purpose the Anti-Ragging Committee has been actively functioning and took efforts to maintain the calm and quite environment in college campus. The resource person Worinyo Muinao, Asst. Professor, Department of English, MEC started her speech with an explanation to ragging, types of ragging and informed the gathering about the consequences of ragging if found guilty depending upon the nature and gravity of the offense, which in her opinion would be devastating. And later at the end, A mass spoken pledge took by the gatherings not to indulge in any form of ragging led by DS Ngaonei, Asst. Prof., Department of Political Science, MEC. Nearly about 170 students filled their anti-ragging affidavit form and submitted through the portal of college.
