Bharti Aaba Janbhagidari Abiyan conducted at Mount Everest College, Senapati
Bharti Aaba Janbhagidari Abhiyan (DAJA) & its Benefits Awareness programme was organized by the Tribal Research Institute, Department of Tribal Affairs and Hills, Manipur and is Hosted by The Internal Quality Assurance Cell, Mount Everest College senapati on 7th July, 2025 at College Auditorium aimed to educate students, faculty, and staff about the benefits of DAJA. The Event was attended by the Presidents of the College, Dr. V. Alexander Pao, Principals, faculties and Students of the college, and Mr. John Dangmei, Joint Director TA & Hills TRI, Manipur, Adahrii Maheo, CEO, ADC Senapati and Team of DAJA.The programme provided valuable insights into DAJA’s objectives, benefits, and implementation, fostering greater awareness and community engagement. -
Mount Everest College Conducts Orientation Programme for 4-Year Bachelor’s Degree with Honours Under NEP 2020
Mount Everest College, Senapati, successfully organized a One-Day Orientation Programme which is likely to introduce the newly implemented 4-Year Bachelor’s Degree with Honours Programme under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 (which is under process) in the institute. The event, coordinated by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), marked a significant milestone as the first of its kind at the institution under the affiliation of Manipur University.The orientation aimed to familiarize incoming students with the academic framework, structure, and objectives of the 4-Year Undergraduate Programme. Mr. Gonmei Meithuanlungpao, Vice Principal of the college, delivered the Technical Keynote Address, offering in-depth insights into the components and expectations of the new curriculum.Key topics addressed during the orientation included:Detailed overview of the 4-Year course structure, particularly for the VII and VIII semesters under NEP 2020.Potential challenges and opportunities associated with the transition to the new academic format.Anticipated programme outcomes.Career prospects and avenues for academic progression following graduation.The programme concluded with the distribution of the Academic Calendar for the 2025–26 academic year, symbolizing the formal commencement of a dynamic and student-centric educational journey.Mount Everest College continues to take strides toward academic excellence and holistic student development in alignment with national education reforms. -
Mount Everest College Organizes First Aid Training Programme
In line with the objectives of the National Education Policy 2020 (NEP 2020) and as a proactive response to the growing vulnerabilities posed by challenging terrains, changing climate conditions with Floods and other domestic injuries or health emergency, Mount Everest College (MEC), Senapati, successfully conducted a comprehensive First Aid Training Programme. The event was jointly organized by the Value Added Course (VAC) Cell and the B.Ed Department of the college.The training served as both a teaching-learning component under the B.Ed and VAC curriculum aligned with NEP 2020, and as a disaster preparedness initiative to equip students and staff with essential life-saving skills. The programme aimed at enhancing community resilience and awareness regarding medical emergencies in the region’s geographically and climatically sensitive areas.The event was graced by Dr. V. Alexander Pao, President of MEC, and the Principal, along with faculty members and enthusiastic students from various departments. Two eminent medical professionals and also the Alumni of the Institution—Dr. James Pao, Senior Medical Officer, Senapati and Dr. Veijohne Vemai, were the resource persons for the session.The interactive training covered a range of critical first aid topics including:Management of bites and stings (dog/cat bites, snake bites, bee stings)Response to choking incidentsTreating diarrhea and food poisoning using ORSDrowning rescue techniquesCPR for stroke and cardiac arrestEmergency care for burn injuriesIdentifying and managing allergic reactions and anaphylaxisDealing with heat exhaustion, fainting, nosebleeds, and woundsHandling seizures and understanding how to provide basic careIntroduction to the contents and use of a basic first aid kitThe participants actively engaged in hands-on demonstrations and simulations, ensuring practical understanding and application of the techniques taught. The session emphasized the importance of immediate response during medical emergencies, especially in areas with delayed access to professional healthcare services.The initiative was lauded as a step forward in holistic education and community preparedness, fulfilling the interdisciplinary and skill-based learning approach advocated by the NEP 2020.Mount Everest College continues to stand at the forefront of empowering students not only academically but also through real-life, practical training that fosters social responsibility, safety awareness, and resilience among its stakeholders. -
World Environment Day
Mount Everest College’s Eco Club, in collaboration with Taphou Phyamai Youth & Students Organisation, Senapati, celebrated World Environment Day on June 5, 2025. The event focused on the Theme ‘Ending Plastic Pollution’ and featured a cleanliness drive at the college ground & surrounding area. Students and volunteers actively participated, collecting plastic waste and promoting sustainable practices. The initiative aimed to raise awareness about environmental conservation and encourage eco-friendly habits among the community, fostering a cleaner and greener future.

LAUNCH OF THE 1ST DEPARTMENTAL MAGAZINE
May 23, 2025 will forever be remembered as a historic day for the Department of English as it marked the release of its first-ever departmental magazine.
A milestone achievement under the Skill Enhancement Course: Creative Writing. Compiled by the Second Semester students under the guidance of Miss Hatminchong, the magazine beautifully showcased a wide array of short stories, essays, poems, and sketches. This collective effort reflected the creativity, dedication, and teamwork of the students, who worked tirelessly to bring their ideas to life.
The launch of the magazine stands as a proud moment for the department, symbolizing a new tradition of nurturing literary and artistic expression while inspiring future batches to carry the legacy forward.

ONE-DAY DEPARTMENTAL ACTIVITY – DEPARTMENT OF HISTORY
On May 17, 2025, the Department of History organized a one-day departmental activity themed “Exposing Culture through Traditional Attire.”
The event commenced with an inspiring address by Dr. Holkhongam Haokip, Head of Department. A highlight of the programme was a competition where students showcased their traditional attire and delivered brief presentations explaining its cultural significance. Participants were evaluated based on various judging criteria, and the list of winners is as follows:

GREEN STEPS: MOUNT EVEREST COLLEGE UNITES LEARNING AND ENVIRONMENT AT KAPAMODZII PEAK
Blending academics with action, the Department of Botany and the Eco Club of Mount Everest College, Senapati, organised an educational field trip to Kapamodzü Peak in Phek district, Nagaland, on May 3, 2025, followed by a meaningful cleaning drive at the serene KYU Range.
Led by Miss K. Kateni, Head of the Botany Department, and Mrs. Esther Jatak, teacher-in-charge of the Eco Club, the group of 18 enthusiastic students turned their journey into a platform for learning and environmental care. While observing the unique vegetation of Kapamodzü, they also cleaned the beautiful KYU Range — a peaceful, meadow-like area of cultural significance.
This initiative highlighted how education rooted in real-world experiences can inspire responsibility and sustainable action.

REPORT ON ONE DAY AWARENESS PROGRAMME ON ‘BAN OF SINGLE-USE PLASTICS’
On May 2, 2025, a One Day Awareness Programme on the theme ‘Ban of Single-Use Plastics’ was organised by IQAC, NSS Unit I, Eco Club, Anti-Litter Club, and the Departments of Botany and Zoology, MEC. The programme aimed to educate students and staff about the harmful effects of single-use plastics.
A technical session was conducted by Mr. Kaluba Paul, Assistant Professor, Department of Botany, highlighting environmental concerns and sustainable alternatives. A pledge against single-use plastics was led by Ms. M. Leshine, Assistant Professor, Department of Zoology. The event also included the release and dissemination of an awareness poster to promote responsible practices. The programme concluded with active participation and a renewed commitment towards a plastic-free environment.

OUTREACH PROGRAMME TO IRANG VALLEY FOR COLLEGE ADMISSION AND AWARENESS
On May 1, 2025, a college outreach programme was conducted in Irang Valley, covering villages like Thonglang, Irang Nepali, Chalwa, Gelnal, Tapon, Makui, Langka, Thenjang, Chawang Kining, Toribari, and Waichong. The team travelled 12 hours non-stop on rough roads to spread awareness about college admissions, scholarships, and available courses.
Despite the tough journey, the programme was well-received by the villagers. The local community showed interest and appreciated the information shared. The visit helped build trust and encouraged more awareness about higher education opportunities in these remote areas.
