  • FRESHERS’ MEET 2025

    Mount Everest College hosted its Freshers’ Meet 2025 on 12th September at the College Auditorium under the theme “Together We Write Tomorrow.” The event was organized by the Cultural Committee, Music Club, and the Departments of Botany, Zoology, and Physics.

     

    Dr. L. Angshim Dangshawa, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of Tamenglong District, Manipur, served as the chief guest and inspired students to dream big, work hard, and persevere.

    The celebration showcased the college’s cultural diversity and inclusivity, featuring performances and competitions. Highlights included the crowning of:

    • Mr. Freshers 2025: Hriimaio Kyapaomai (English Dept.)
    • Ms. Freshers 2025: Choziine Chalai (English Dept.)
    • Most Talented: Kagan Bomlung (Political Science) & D. Raingaone (Physics)
    • Best Costume: Liideo Pho (Zoology) & Vahneineng Hangshing (English)
    • Best Personality: Rahrapuh Blesson (Political Science) & Sheeveinai (Physics)

    The event marked a memorable beginning for the new students, blending inspiration with celebration.

    Observance of National Sports day under the theme “Sports to Promote Peaceful Societies on 29th August 2025.

    Mount Everest College observed National Sports Day on 29th August 2025 under the theme “Sports to Promote Peaceful Societies.” The event began with a keynote address by Niomchung Jatak Chiru, IQAC Coordinator, who emphasized the importance of dedicating 60 minutes daily to physical activity as part of the Fit India Movement and Viksit Bharat vision. He highlighted how sports foster discipline, unity, and mental well-being, contributing to a harmonious society. A series of spirited sports competitions were organized, including Volleyball, Basketball, and Badminton for both boys and girls. The enthusiastic participation reflected the college’s commitment to holistic development and inclusivity. The observance not only celebrated athletic excellence but also reinforced the role of sports in building resilient, peaceful communities. The day concluded with prize distribution and a collective pledge to integrate fitness into daily life.

    Mount Everest College celebrated its XIII Commerce Day on 27th August 2025 under the theme “Igniting Young Aspiring Entrepreneur.” The event aimed to foster entrepreneurial thinking among students , idea showcases, and interactive sessions. Officials from the Senapati Entrepreneur Association delivered impactful technical motivational talks, sharing real-world insights and strategies for startup success. Their presence inspired students to pursue innovation and self-reliance, aligning with NEP 2020’s emphasis on skill development and experiential learning.

  • NSS Induction and Orientation Programme on 26 August 2025

    Mount Everest College organized the NSS Induction and Orientation Programme on 26th August 2025 to welcome new volunteers and instill the spirit of service and civic responsibility. Vice Principal Gonmei Meithuanlungpou delivered the keynote address, emphasizing the transformative role of NSS in shaping socially conscious youth. Niomchung Jatak Chiru, IQAC Coordinator, highlighted the alignment of NSS activities with institutional quality benchmarks and NEP 2020 goals. The session introduced students to NSS objectives, operational structure, and upcoming initiatives. The programme fostered enthusiasm and commitment among participants, marking a purposeful beginning to the 2025–26 NSS calendar.

  • MOUNT EVEREST COLLEGE LAUNCHES ORCHIDARIUM TO PRESERVE LOCAL ORCHID DIVERSITY

    MEC, July 21, 2025: Mount Everest College marked a significant milestone in its commitment to environmental conservation and college beautification with the establishment of its Orchidarium today in the College Campus. The ceremony, attended by the Principal, students, and faculty members, showcased the college’s dedication to sustainability.
    The Orchidarium aims to rescue and preserve fallen indigenous orchids, promote awareness about local orchid diversity, and beautify the college campus. With over 33 species of orchids in its collection, the Orchidarium is a testament to the college’s commitment to conservation.
    Vice Principal Gonmei Meithuanlungpou, Chairman of the Orchidarium, highlighted the initiative’s importance, noting that it was taken to rescue orchids from fallen trees due to landslides, road construction, and other natural causes, with a focus on protecting, preserving, and promoting these species in a sustainable manner, rather than plucking or taking them from their natural habitats.
    “The IQAC, Botany Department, Eco Club, faculties and students have played a vital role in the Orchidarium’s success,” he said. “This initiative promotes awareness about local orchid diversity and fosters care for our natural heritage.”
    A pledge was taken during the ceremony, led by K Kateni, Secretary MECOC, to rescue and protect fallen indigenous orchids from Manipur’s hill districts. This underscores the college’s commitment to environmental conservation and sustainability.
    The Orchidarium will serve as a hub for learning and research, providing students with hands-on experience in orchid conservation and management. It will also contribute to college beautification with its beautiful collection of indigenous orchids. The Orchidarium Committee, Botany Department, and Eco Club will continue to rescue, care for, and multiply the orchids in the Orchidarium, ensuring its growth and sustainability.
    This initiative will provide students with hands-on experience in orchid conservation and management, while promoting environmental awareness and appreciation among the community.
    By establishing the Orchidarium, Mount Everest College aims to inspire others to take similar steps in preserving natural heritage and promoting environmental awareness among students and the community.

  • World Youth Skills Day Celebration

    Mount Everest College, in collaboration with Mera Yuva Bharat (My Bharat), IQAC, and the Skills Enhancement Committee, successfully organized a special event on World Youth Skills Day. The theme “Youth Empowerment through AI and Digital Skills” was celebrated on July 15, 2025, at the College Auditorium.
    The event featured two technical sessions with esteemed resource persons. . Alen Chiru, Head of the Department of Political Science, delivered the first session, highlighting the rapid advancements in technology over the past two decades. He illustrated how technology has evolved from traditional black and white TVs to smartphones, emphasizing the importance of adapting to these changes.
    The second session was led by Niomchung Jatak Chiru, Assistant Professor of Physics and IQAC Coordinator. He discussed the significance of digital skills and artificial intelligence (AI) in today’s world. Jatak emphasized the need for youth to acquire these skills to become self-sufficient and reduce dependence on others for tasks that can be easily done using smartphones. He provided practical examples, such as filling out scholarship forms, income certificates, and domicile certificates, which can be completed digitally.
    Mr. Chiru also touched upon the use of AI applications like Meta AI in WhatsApp and ChatGPT, cautioning that while these tools are not 100% reliable, it is essential to learn and master them as they are increasingly becoming part of daily life.
    The event was attended by the Principal, faculty members, and students. Chengwiliu Newmai moderated the event, while Jenkins led the invocation. Dr. Seiminlun, Assistant Professor and Secretary of the Skill Enhancement Committee, delivered the vote of thanks.
    This celebration of World Youth Skills Day served as a valuable platform for students to gain insights into the importance of digital skills and AI in empowering youth. The event highlighted the need for young people to embrace technology and develop the skills necessary to thrive in a rapidly changing world.

  • MOUNT EVEREST COLLEGE ORGANISES WORKSHOP ON REARING OF SILKWORM

    The Department of Zoology, Mount Everest College, in collaboration with the Directorate of Sericulture, Government of Nagaland, successfully organised a one-day workshop on “Rearing of Silkworm” at Smart Hall,Mount Everest College on11-07-2025 (Friday),as a follow-up to the MoU signed between Directorate of Sericulture, Government of Nagaland and IQAC, Mount Everest College. The programme aimed to promote practical knowledge and skill-based training in sericulture, equipping participants with hands-on experience in silkworm rearing and exploring sustainable livelihood opportunities.
    Mrs. Vilhousienuo Khro, District Sericulture Officer, Kohima, Nagaland, delivered a comprehensive keynote lecture on silkworm rearing, highlighting Nagaland’s progress in Muga Silk Development under Silk Samagra-1 & 2. She elaborated on the life cycle of eri and other silkworm varieties, their products, and benefits.
    During the interaction session, students and faculty members raised queries on silkworm consumption, health benefits, training programmes, and marketing aspects, which were addressed by the keynote speaker.
    The event concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Miss Lishine, Assistant Professor, Zoology Department, expressing gratitude to the Directorate of Sericulture, Government of Nagaland, and the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Mount Everest College, for their collaboration in signing the MoU in September 2024. The workshop was moderated by Liziine Caryn, 3rd Semester, Zoology Department, and welcomed by Miss L Lungshila, HOD, Department of Zoology.
    Attended by the Principal, faculties, and Zoology students, the workshop promoted not only sericulture practices and sustainable livelihood opportunities in the region also help the students pursue the knowledge in the Course as per NEP Syllabus in the UG Zoology Programme.

  • New Academic Induction

    Mount Everest College commenced the new academic year with a solemn Induction Sharing & Prayer held on 9th July, 2025. Vice Principal Gonmei Meithuanlungpao welcomed students and staff with a brief reflection on the college’s vision under NEP 2020, emphasizing integrity, inclusivity, and academic excellence. His words inspired a renewed commitment to transformative education. Simeon, the College Chaplain, led a heartfelt prayer invoking wisdom, unity, and divine guidance for the year ahead. The gathering fostered a spirit of purpose and community, setting a hopeful tone for the 2025–26 session.
