On April 29, 2025, the Department of Botany, Mount Everest College, conducted an Orchid Plantation Programme to further enrich its existing orchid collection.
The green initiative aimed to promote biodiversity conservation and environmental awareness. With this drive, the college now boasts 15 indigenous orchid species, reflecting its ongoing commitment to preserving native flora, enriching both its natural beauty and ecological value, while fostering environmental awareness among students and staff.

17-DAY WOMEN’S SELF-DEFENCE TRAINING PROGRAMME AT MEC
The Women’s Cell and IQAC of Mount Everest College, in collaboration with the Directorate of University & Higher Education, Government of Manipur, successfully organised a 17-day Women’s Self-Defence Training Programme for girl students from April 1 to April 17, 2025.
The programme aimed to equip young women with essential self-defence skills and instill resilience and confidence in facing real-life challenges.
The training not only focused on physical defence techniques but also included sessions on legal awareness and psychological preparedness, ensuring a holistic approach to self-empowerment.
Physical training was conducted by experts from Combat Athletic Training Academy, focusing on practical and responsive self-defence techniques.
The legal aspect was addressed by Ms. Adani Komuo Mao, Advocate cum Legal Counsellor at One Stop Centre, who enlightened students on their legal rights and protection laws.
The psychological aspect was covered by Dr. Paveine Paulina Y, Clinical Psychologist, who guided participants on building mental strength, emotional balance, and trauma response.
The programme witnessed active participation and was lauded for its comprehensive and empowering approach.

ANNUAL CULTURAL MEET-CUM-INTER-DEPARTMENTAL DAY CELEBRATED AT MEC
Mount Everest College held its Annual Cultural Meet-cum-Inter-Departmental Day on April 16, 2025, at the college auditorium under the theme “Roots of Tradition, Wings of Innovation.” The event aimed to preserve, practice, and promote cultural heritage. Vice Principal Mr. Meithuanlungpou Gonmei delivered the keynote address, emphasizing the importance of celebrating culture through the 3Ps – Preserve, Practice and Promote.
Events included Traditional Fire Making, Choral Singing, and Departmental Activity competitions. Winners included Political Science and Zoology (Fire Making), Botany, English and Sociology (Choral Singing), and Zoology, Sociology, Physics, and English (Departmental Activity), receiving awards for creativity, realism, inspiration, and presentation respectively.
The event celebrated innovation, tradition, and academic integration through vibrant performances. -
CHARITY DAY OBSERVED AT MOUNT EVEREST COLLEGE
On April 12, 2025, the Department of Commerce and the Chapel Committee of Mount Everest College jointly organised Charity Day under the theme “Hope in Every Hand.” A charity box was placed on campus for voluntary donations from staff and students, which will be used to support the poor and needy. The programme included a special prayer for charity by Chaplain S.P. Simeon, followed by scripture reading and Bible recitation. Mr. Jenkins Kongkongho, Students’ Facilitator at MEC, delivered a short yet impactful speech, inspiring all to embrace compassion and generosity.

MOUNT EVEREST COLLEGE SIGNS MOU WITH JAPAN’S ARMS INCORPORATION TO BOOST GLOBAL OPPORTUNITIES
On April 10, 2025, Mount Everest College signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with ARMS Incorporation.
The MoU outlines plans to establish a consultancy office and expand future activities under the Technical Intern Training Programme (TITP) and the Specified Skilled Worker (SSW) programme. Its primary objective is to promote student awareness, facilitate recruitment, and provide guidance for pursuing professional opportunities in Japan. This partnership marks a strategic step toward empowering students with global employability and cross-cultural career pathways. -
PARTICIPATION IN CLEAN SENAPATI RIVER CAMPAIGN
As per the directive of the Deputy Commissioner of the district, Mount Everest College participated in the Clean Senapati River Campaign on March 22, 2025, from 6:00 am to 8:00 am. The campaign saw enthusiastic participation from volunteer students across all departments, including trainees from the Department of Teacher Education. Students actively engaged in cleaning the riverbanks, collecting waste, and promoting environmental awareness. The initiative reflected the college’s commitment to community service and environmental responsibility, contributing to a cleaner and healthier Senapati for all residents.

CELEBRATION OF WORLD WATER DAY
The Environmental Studies class in collaboration with NSS of Mount Everest College observed World Water Day on March 22, 2025, under the theme “Glacier Preservation”.
The programme highlighted the importance of water conservation and sustainable usage. Discussions aiming at raising awareness about the global water crisis were presented. The event emphasized collective responsibility in protecting this vital resource for present and future generations. -
OBSERVANCE OF INTERNATIONAL DAY OF FORESTS
The Department of Botany, Eco Club, and NSS Unit of Mount Everest College, in collaboration with IQAC, observed the International Day of Forests on March 21, 2025, under the theme “Forest and Food.” As part of the observance, members actively engaged in weeding the areas around previously planted tree saplings, reinforcing their commitment to forest care and maintenance. The activity aimed to nurture the young plants and highlight the importance of forest preservation in ensuring food security.
