A day’s state level workshop on NEP 2020 is being organized on 12th November, 2022 at College Auditorium -MEC, at 10:30 a.m. by IQAC & Research Committee.
About the workshop:– NEP 2020 is the first education policy of the contemporary century which replaces National Policy on Education (NPE) , 1986. It brings many fundamental changes in education system and teacher education too. Higher education is an important aspect in deciding the economy, social status, technology adoption, and healthy human behavior in every country. Improving GER to include every citizen of the country in higher education offerings is the responsibility of the education department of the country government. National Education Policy of India 2020 is marching towards achieving such objective by making innovative policies to improve the quality, attractiveness, affordability, and increasing the supply by opening up the higher education for the private sector and at the same time with strict controls to maintain quality in every higher education institution. By encouraging merit-based admissions with free- ships, scholarships, merit & research based continuous performers as faculty members, and merit based proven leaders in regulating bodies, and strict monitoring of quality through biennial accreditation based on self-declaration of progress through technology -based monitoring. HE system will transform itself as student centric with the freedom to choose core and allied subjects within a discipline and across disciplines. Faculty members also get autonomy to choose curriculum, methodology, pedagogy and evaluation models within the given policy framework. These transformations will start from the academic year 2021- 22 and expected lot more improvement in the years ahead.

Research Committee, MEC was re-constitute on 18th October. 2021 from the pre-existing formal Committee as per the requirement of NAAC Assessment for having a strong and vibrant higher education ecosystem with an emphasis on research, innovation and technology development. MEC NEW ACADEMIC SESSION 2022-2023 UNDER NEP-2020 INITIATED …….…………..
On this day, the 24th of August, 2022, Implementation of NEP-2020 ordinance for Under Graduate Programme under Manipur University of the Mount Everest College, Senapati for the academic session 2022-2023 was initiated. A short prayer of blessing was graced by SP Semion, Chaplain; MEC before all the academic activities begins.
Principal and Vice principal along with the Faculties, staff, students of old timer and newly enrolled students of various programme attended and witnessed the successful initiation of the new beginning of NEP-2020 on new academic session 2022-2023.

MEC Observed and organized Exhibition on Partition Horrors Remembrance Day as a part of Azadika Amrit Mahotsav
On this day, the 13th of August, 2022, Mount Everest College, Senapati observed the Inaugural Ceremony of The Partition Horrors Remembrance Day cum Exhibition as a part of Azadika Amrit Mahotsav at College Auditorium Hall, MEC. The events were presided by Shri. Stephen, Ex-Chairman, Taphou Phyamai Village as the Chief Guest and Dr. V. Alexander Pao, President as the Guest of Honour.
The Inaugural Ceremony of the programme starts at 11:30 am with the welcoming of the designated Guests, Faculties and students by the Moderator, Shri. Donkoulung Malangmei, Asst. Prof., Department of English, MEC. Followed by Opening Song “Vande Mataram” by the congregation. A brief Introduction about the purpose of the exhibition was delivered by Dr. Holkhongam Haokip, HOD Dept. of History, where he also exhorted on the “Horrors of Partition”. A brief summary of his exhortation may be summarise as under:
“During the Governor Generalship of Lord Mountbatten, an act was passed known as the Indian Parliament Act of 1947, which made a provision for the partition of British India into Pakistan and India. The partition triggered riots, mass casualties and a colossal wave of migration. Millions of Muslims head towards Pakistan and another millions of Hindus and Sikhs to India. The partition left 10 to 20 million people displaced and left 200,000 to 2 million dead. One reason for partition was the Two Nation Theory of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan stating that Hindus and Muslims are too different to be in one country.”
After the exhortation, Shri. Stephen and Dr. V.Alexander also spoke on the damage done by the partition which left the two countries shattered in terms of good social relationship even to this day. The Inaugural Ceremony of the programme ended with National Anthem, Jana Gana Mana.
Hours of Exhibition
The Exhibition started at 12:00 pm and last till 1:00 PM where images of horrors of Partitions which caused untold agony, suffering and pain to the people have been displayed through the projector. Many people besides students, teaching and non-teaching staff witnessed the horror of partition. Some of the special invitees who witnessed the horrors are: Village Authority, Youth Society, Women Society of Taphou Phyamai village, Nepali Village, Ngaihang Village, Oiname Village, Hornbill Media, Senapati, Herald Today Media, Senapati etc.
After the exhibition, the programme ended with a vote of thanks from Shri. Niomchung Jatak Chiru, Asst. Prof. Dept. of Physics, IQAC Coordinator, MEC. -

MEC CELEBRATED INDEPENDENCE DAY UNDER AZADIKA AMRIT MOHOTSAV
Mount Everest College made history joining with the rest of the Nation in witnessing the celebration of the Azadika Amrit Mohotsav, the 76th Independence Day on 15th August, 2022 at the College Campus.
The Programme was organized by the IQAC, Mount Everest College under the directive of the Education (U), Govt. of Manipur. It was presided by Shri. Gonmei Meithuanlungpou, Vice Principal, MEC as the Chief Guest. The programme began at 10:00 am with the welcoming of Chief Guest and the congregation by Moderator, Mr. CL Kalo, Asst. Prof., Dept. of Commerce, MEC. It was followed by unfurling of the National Flag by the Chief Guest. After which, the faculties and the students sang the National Anthem. The Chief Guest in his speech instilled a sense of pride to the faculties and students on the landmark achievement of our Nation. He further encouraged the students to embark on the journey of liberating our Nation from anything that hinders the progress of the nation. The Result and the prize for the Fancy Dress Competition (Patriotic), Choreography Competition (Patriotic) and Painting Competition (Patriotic) was also distributed which was held on observance of Patriots’ Day on 13th August, 2022 as a part of Azadika Amrit Mohotsav. It was then followed by light refreshment and pronounce of vote of thanks from Ms. Kateni, Asst. Professor, Dept., of Botany, MEC. The Programme ended after singing the College Anthem.

MEC OBSERVED PATRIOT’S DAY UNDER AZADIKA AMRIT MOHOTSAV …………………………………………………………………………………….
Mount Everest College organized the “ Observance of Patriot’s Day on 13th August, 2022 at the College Auditorium Hall.
The Programme began at 10 am with an Opening Song “Sana Leibak Manipur” sung by the congregation. It was followed by paying of tributes to the Patriots by maintaining Silence for One Minute remembering the sacrifices our Patriots have made.
Key note address was delivered by K R Alen Chiru, Asst. Professor, Dept., of Political Science, MEC. He stressed on the importance and history of observing Patriots Day. He further encouraged the teachers and students to carry on the legacy our freedom fighters left behind.
After which, hours of competition took place where several students participated in Fancy Dress Competition (Patriotic), Choreography Competition (Patriotic) and Painting Competition (Patriotic). The Result and the prize distribution to be take place on the Independent Day. It was then followed by light refreshment and vote of thanks from Mr. Lanchenba, Asst. Professor, Dept., of Political Science, MEC.
The Programme ended after singing the College Anthem and closing prayer by Ms. Vashti, Asst. Prof., Dept., of Anthropology, MEC -

MEC PARTICIPATED HAR GHAR TIRANGA UNDER AZADIKA AMRIT MOHOTSAV
Mount Everest College joint with the rest of the Nation in participating Har Ghar Tiranga under Azadika Amrit Mohotsav under the directives of Govt. of India from 13th August to 15th August, 2022. The programme was organized by the IQAC, Mount Everest College in the premise of Administrative Block, MEC. The event started with brief introduction and speech on observing Har Ghar Tiranga under Azadika Amrit Mohotsav from Niomchung Jatak Chiru, IQAC Co-ordinator. It was followed by the hoisting of National Flag by Gonmei Maithuanlungpou, Vice Principal of MEC, as Faculties, Staff and Students hold one National Flag each and sings the National Anthem.
After which a short Photo session and Selfie took place with each individual with National Flag and directed all the faculties, Staff and Students to upload in the harghartiranga.com. The event came to an end by chanting “Bharat Mata ki “,“Jai Hind”

ONE DAY AWARENESS PROGRAMME ON CODE OF CONDUCT CUM FACULTIES MEETING 2022 HELD
Mount Everest College organized a one day awareness programme on code of Conduct cum Faculties meeting organized by IQAC on 6th August, 2022, 10:00 am at College Auditorium Hall.
The programme was presided by the President Dr.V. Alexander Pao, and was attended by Khuveirou Vemai, Secretary , Gonmei MaithuanlungPou, Vice Principal, Roshan Shagolsem, Academic Dean, Matum Tomba, PRO, Niomchung Jatak Chiru, IQAC Coordinator and all the Teaching staffs of Mount Everest College.
The objective of the programme was to enlighten the teacher on the Code of Conduct of the Institute, the new implementation of NEP, 2022 and the role of IQAC in preparation on NAAC Assessment and the role of every Department and various committees to take up in it.
The programme starts with an elaborate discussion made by Maithuanlungpou Gonmei, Vice Principal on the Code of Conduct of the Institute to be followed by all the stakeholders within and outside the campus of the Institute.
The teachers were further encouraged by Roshan Shagolsem, Academic Dean to adopt new teaching methods and expand their learning and teaching capacity.
Further, Niomchung Jatak Chiru, IQAC Coordinator brief the faculties present on the importance of IQAC and its role in Assessment process by NAAC. He urge all the Stakeholders especially the Management, Faculties, Administrative staff, Various Department and Committee to work together in every activities not only according to the Academic Calendar but also taking extra mile in timely execution of various activities taken up by the Institute.
Finally Dr.V. Alexander Pao, President of the Institute exhort and encourage all the faculties in their selfless sacrifice so far in rendition of their service to the institution. He appeal all the faculties to go with the extra mile in Teaching Learning process by taking up more Research and Publication and upgrade their Academic progression. He encourages all the faculties present to work together towards the vision and goal of the institute.
The programme was successfully concluded with a prayer from Mr. Wilson Jimik, Head Deacon, Mount Everest College and light refreshment.
